LA prosecutors say won’t charge Marilyn Manson with sexual assault

LOS ANGELES, California — The top prosecutor in Los Angeles announced on Friday that the office will not bring charges against goth rocker Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Following a comprehensive four-year investigation, prosecutors concluded that the allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations. “And we cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt,” stated Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.

Manson, who is actually named Brian Warner, has faced accusations from several women, including his ex-fiancée, actress Evan Rachel Wood, and Esme Bianco, known for her role in “Game of Thrones.” Manson has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

In 2022, he initiated court proceedings against Wood for conspiracy, fraud, and defamation after she publicly accused him of raping her, but he later dropped the civil lawsuit.

The 56-year-old musician is recognized for his provocative persona, featuring ghostly makeup and a stage name connected to serial killer Charles Manson, one of America’s most infamous criminals.

Despite the decision not to charge Manson, Hochman’s office acknowledged the strong advocacy from the women involved, stating that their efforts have helped shine a light on the difficulties that survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault encounter.

Manson is currently on a global tour, and shortly after the prosecutor’s announcement, he shared on Instagram that the tour would include performances in the United States.
