Senators Deliver Remarks at New Hampshire Life Sciences Inaugural Event, Granite State Innovation

On Wednesday, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, along with U.S. Representative Chris Pappas (NH-01), delivered remarks at the inaugural celebration of New Hampshire Life Sciences in Salem.

The statewide life sciences association aims to foster economic growth and raise awareness about the life sciences industry in New Hampshire, contributing to the state’s reputation for world-class talent and innovation.

“Fueling local economies and growing industries, including New Hampshire’s innovative life sciences sector, requires collaboration,” Shaheen stated. “That’s why I’m glad to see so many companies and organizations in this association developing cutting-edge therapies right here in the Granite State that will save lives in the state and beyond.”

She emphasized that the formation of New Hampshire Life Sciences would significantly improve lives by enhancing the economy and creating well-paying jobs.

“Today’s Live Free Live Science celebration reaffirms that anyone who wants to innovate, research, or create should come to the Live Free or Die State,” added Hassan.

As chair of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, Shaheen leads initiatives aimed at promoting American innovation and accelerating long-term sustainable economic growth.

In July, the New Hampshire Congressional delegation celebrated the acceptance of $44 million in federal funding awarded to the ReGen Valley Tech Hub through the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act. This funding aims to position Southern New Hampshire as a global epicenter for the production and distribution of regenerative cells, tissues, and organs.

Before this funding announcement, Shaheen and Hassan hosted Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo at ARMI, following the Economic Development Administration’s selection of Southern New Hampshire’s BioFabrication Cluster as a Build Back Better Regional Challenge awardee.

The separate $44 million grant, which the trio advocated for, serves as a foundational investment to establish Southern New Hampshire’s leadership in regenerative tissue and organ production.
