Patriots Lose Starting Left Tackle Vederian Lowe to Ankle Injury

FOXBORO — The New England Patriots experienced a setback during their game against the Texans when starting left tackle Vederian Lowe exited early in the second quarter due to an ankle injury. Following his departure, Lowe was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt expressed confidence in the starting combination of Lowe at left tackle and Demontrey Jacobs at right tackle just days prior. Unfortunately, this pairing lasted less than two weeks before Lowe suffered his injury.

During the time he was on the field, Lowe allowed just one pressure as noted by PFF’s in-game tracking before leaving the game.

With Lowe sidelined, Zachary Thomas, who had been claimed off waivers from the Rams after cutdowns on August 28, stepped in to take over at left tackle. Since joining the Patriots, Thomas has primarily been utilized at guard and as a jumbo tight end.

The Patriots’ offensive line has undergone significant changes since the start of training camp, resulting in a lack of stability. In the matchup against the Texans, the team fielded its sixth different offensive line combination, which included Ben Brown, who was inserted at center despite only joining the team on Thursday.
