US to Send Anti-Missile System to Israel, Says Pentagon

WASHINGTON: The United States announced on Sunday, October 13, its decision to deploy an advanced anti-missile system to Israel, accompanied by US troops who will operate it. This initiative aims to strengthen Israel’s air defenses following recent missile attacks attributed to Iran.

President Joe Biden emphasized the importance of this deployment, stating that it is intended “to defend Israel.”

According to Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder, the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery will enhance Israel’s existing integrated air defense system.

Ryder noted, “It is part of the broader adjustments the US military has made in recent months, to support the defense of Israel and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and Iranian-aligned militias,” adding that this move reflects ongoing efforts to reinforce military support for allies in the region.

This decision comes amid increasing tensions in the Middle East, underlining the US commitment to enhance its strategic partnerships and ensure regional stability.
