Trump ally Carlson announces interview with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov
WASHINGTON – Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, a prominent ally of US President Donald Trump, revealed on December 3 that he recently interviewed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, promising to air the conversation “soon.”
Carlson had previously traveled to Moscow in February for an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, marking the first interview with a US journalist following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
In a video shared on his social media platforms and website, Carlson stated that he returned to Russia to provide insights into the escalating tensions between Washington and Moscow, resulting in his discussion with Lavrov.
“We just walked out of that interview. It’s absolutely fascinating. It’s coming very soon. We hope you’ll watch,” Carlson mentioned, though he did not specify an air date for the interview.
Moreover, Carlson criticized US President Joe Biden’s administration for allegedly blocking him from interviewing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This claim aligns with his ongoing narrative that America is grappling with various internal challenges.
For years, Carlson has portrayed the United States as a nation in decline, suggesting it is under attack by Democrats, “woke” protesters, and elements of communism. Since leaving Fox News, he has increasingly leaned into right-wing conspiracy theories.
His highly-rated show on the cable network concluded in April 2023, just days after a significant settlement was reached in a defamation lawsuit involving false claims that ballot-counting company Dominion Voting Systems had played a role in stealing the 2020 election from Trump.
After departing from Fox, Carlson transitioned to broadcasting on X, formerly known as Twitter, and has launched his own streaming platform, the Tucker Carlson Network.
