US to Assist Pakistan in Modernization of FIA

The United States (US) has committed to supporting Pakistan in the modernization of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), aiming to align it with the standards upheld by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

This collaboration was formalized during a recent meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad. The discussions underscored a pivotal alliance in enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement in Pakistan.

As part of this initiative, the United States will also provide assistance in upgrading the effectiveness of the National Forensic Agency to ensure it meets contemporary standards required for modern forensic investigations.

Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the importance of US partnership in fortifying the operational capacity of law enforcement agencies across Pakistan. He articulated the urgent need for equipping the Civil Armed Forces with advanced tools and equipment to tackle terrorism and manage emergency situations effectively, declaring this enhancement as a top priority.

In light of the discussions, Naqvi reflected on the long-standing and constructive relationship between Pakistan and the United States, underscoring the mutual benefits derived from their cooperation. He also assured that while foreign nationals with valid documentation would not face expulsion from Islamabad, illegal foreign nationals would not be permitted to reside in the city under any circumstances.

Moreover, Natalie Baker extended her best wishes to Pakistan in its efforts to host the Champions Trophy, marking another instance of positive diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
