Gaza Ceasefire Agreement Reflects Months of Diplomatic Efforts: US President

In a significant development, US President Joe Biden confirmed that a ceasefire agreement in Gaza is now in effect, emphasizing that this agreement is the culmination of months of diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region.

During a speech in North Charleston, South Carolina, Biden announced that he had received confirmation regarding the release of three hostages from Gaza. He pointed out that the ceasefire being implemented today closely resembles the proposal he had presented last May.

In his address, Biden urged the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump to take charge of implementing the agreement. He declared that, as of now, the guns have fallen silent in Gaza, and approximately 700 aid trucks are scheduled to enter the Gaza Strip today to provide much-needed support to civilians.

Biden highlighted that coordination with Qatar and Egypt was crucial for the success of the ongoing negotiations. He reaffirmed the importance of maintaining support for allies in the region while advocating for diplomacy backed by the necessary deterrents. He also acknowledged the lengthy journey that led to this agreement and underscored the need to remember the victims of this ongoing conflict, as the international community aims for a lasting solution through diplomatic means.

The joint mediating efforts led by Qatar, alongside cooperation from Egypt and the United States, successfully resulted in the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which officially took effect this morning.

Earlier today, the Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), facilitated the handover of three Israeli detainees to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza City. This move was part of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israeli authorities.
