Sabre and American Airlines Extend IT Partnership; Multi-Year Agreement Paves Way for Joint Technology Modernization and Innovation

SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Dec. 10, 2024 — Sabre Corporation, a leading technology provider to the global travel industry, and American Airlines have announced the multi-year renewal of their technology partnership, which includes the continued provision of the SabreSonic® Passenger Service System (PSS).

The renewal marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between American and Sabre as both companies aim to pioneer advancements in travel technology and notably improve the traveler experience.

“At American, our customers are at the center of each decision we make,” stated Scott Laurence, Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Retailing at American Airlines. “We are committed to leveraging solutions, like SabreSonic, that address the needs of our customers and our teams. Therefore, we are pleased to renew our partnership with Sabre.”

The alliance between Sabre and American has profoundly influenced the SabreSonic PSS over the past decade, resulting in innovations and features that offer significant benefits across the airline industry. Developments include intelligent seat re-accommodation, enhanced inventory capabilities, and improved cabin functionality and rules.

“American is a leader in the global airline space, and we take pride in knowing our solutions consistently meet and surpass its expectations in this dynamic travel industry,” remarked Roshan Mendis, Chief Commercial Officer, Sabre Travel Solutions. “American is one of our most valued customers, and we look forward to continuing this partnership. We remain dedicated to supporting American’s commercial and technology strategies, ensuring that customer needs are a primary focus.”

Alongside the renewal of the SabreSonic agreement, American Airlines has also decided to extend its subscription with Sabre PRISM, a corporate travel contract management solution. This development comes on the heels of last year’s announcement regarding the availability of American’s NDC offers through Sabre’s Global Distribution System (GDS).

Recently, Sabre and American also reached a resolution regarding litigation connected to a lawsuit initiated by US Airways in 2011.
