United Airlines Eyes New Flight from Los Angeles to Beijing, China – News Directory 3

LOS ANGELES – United Airlines is aiming to expand its international reach with a proposed new route connecting Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK). The Chicago-based carrier has filed a request with the Department of Transportation (DOT) to launch three weekly flights starting May 1, 2025.

This move comes as travel demand continues to rebound following the pandemic, with airlines eager to capitalize on growing passenger numbers. The proposed LAX-PEK route would offer travelers a direct connection between two major global hubs, potentially boosting tourism and business travel between the United States and China.

“This new route would provide valuable connectivity for both business and leisure travelers,” said a United Airlines spokesperson. “We are confident that this service will be well-received by the Los Angeles community and beyond.”

The DOT will now review United’s application, considering factors such as market demand, competition, and the airline’s operational capabilities. If approved, the new route could significantly enhance travel options for passengers flying between the West Coast and China.

United Airlines plans to utilize its modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for this aspiring transpacific route, offering travelers a cozy and efficient journey across 6,250 miles. The 787-9, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, will be configured with 257 seats, including 48 lie-flat business class seats, 21 premium economy seats, and 188 economy seats. This diverse seating arrangement caters to a range of traveler needs, from business executives seeking premium comfort to budget-conscious adventurers.

The new route will operate three times a week, departing Los Angeles at 11:10 PM and arriving in Beijing at 4:45 AM two days later. The return flight will depart Beijing at 12:00 PM, landing in Los Angeles at 9:35 AM.
